Greater Baton Rouge Area HHMCD Activities 2001
The Greatter Baton Rouge area held its household hazardous material collection day on Saturday, May 5, 2001, at Memorial Stadium. The "gates" opened at 8:00am and closed at 12 Noon . 702 cars made their way to the drop-off point leaving various household materials for safe disposal and recycling.

1900 Gallons of Used Oil
12,000 pounds of "trash"
1285 over-pack drums of material for disposal
Useable paint collected was mixed into five gallon buckets and distributed back out into the community for painting projects. We were able to make 89 - five gallon buckets!!!!
Citizens from the Plaquemine area were able to drop off their materials in the Wal-Mart parking lot. 305 cars were counted bringing material to that location.

Altogether 186,287 pounds of material were diverted from the landfill in a short four-hour period!!!!!
